TEACHING IN THE CAMPER
The First Post of Many Yet to Come

Two weeks ago I opened Wed. April 24th on my VIPKID schedule by mistake (meant to open Wed. before Easter. I quickly closed them, but one was literally booked in seconds! I had to teach that class, because I didn't want to take a hit to my cancellation record. I setup a classroom in the bathroom of the RV the night before. Told my 4yr old son Daniel that mommy had to teach in the morning. I told him daddy would not be here to help. I needed him to be a good big brother. I told him he could watch a movie on the tablet (something he is not usually allowed to do before noon). Got up an hour earlier than my kids. Made breakfast set the table. When the kids woke, I nursed Emily and said, "mommy has to teach. Please eat and wait for mommy." Emily said "wait, bye bye" then she called for me and I walked out and she said "wait bye bye" and laughed. I said, "mommy loves you. Mommy go teach. Wait for mommy." They were quiet literally until the last 5 minutes of class. It got a bit noisy, but they never came into the room. I am so proud of my kids. I showered them in hugs and kisses and made a big fuss about how they are such good listeners. They got rewarded with a piece of Easter candy at lunch time. The class went very well too. I half expected it to get cancelled for IT problems due to slow connection speeds, but the VIPKID PC APP remained stable. Thank the lord for a stress free morning.

OUR NEMESIS
By far the hardest part of living in the camper in the woods is fighting daily with ticks. We live in Butler County. It has the highest tick population of anywhere in the USA. We pull about 4 or 5 ticks off our family and dog every week! I am so very grateful for the tick twister. It makes removing these pests a breeze. I cannot wait to move out of the area and get away from these bugs! We are living here for 4 years to save money to build a bed and breakfast. I look forward to saying goodbye to the ticks!

LET THE LIGHT SHINE
My favorite part of living in the RV is the number of windows. Our main living area has 2 big windows, a skylight, and 2 small windows. Our 2 bedrooms each have a 2 windows right next to the beds and a skylight. The shower has a skylight and so does the bathroom. I wish houses were designed this way. When we end our RV journey to build our bed and breakfast, we will have a house designed to utilize natural light efficiently.

PROJECT
One Year Update on Life in the RV
We have been in the RV a year now. Overall, we are very happy. It is a beautiful wooded forest. I love the quiet. My only complaint is that now that fall is upon us it gets pretty dark in here.

LOCKED IN!
Today I got to put my military obstacle course training back into good use. The camper handle door broke. All of our windows except 2 are covered with plastic for upcoming winter months. I had to climb out a window. The window in each bedroom is an 8 foot drop to the ground. I put my legs out first and lowered down as far as I could. I then wrapped my legs around the adjacent 100 gallon propane tank and slid down the tank to the ground. I was then able to walk back around the camper and open the door. My husband is out of town so I cannot repair it right now. I took 2 Melissa and Doug chunky wood puzzle pieces and jammed them into the door handle to prevent it from latching and then taped them in place. Once a soldier always a soldier.

BATTLE AGAINST WINTER CONDENSATION
We are currently in a head to head battle with condensation. This is our 2nd winter and last year I had to pull my kids mattresses off the bunk beds and put them on the floor several times to fight the condensation. This year it is even worse, not just their mattresses but mine too and ours is a very heavy very thick queen mattress which was literally frozen to the wall. The RV has the arctic package so I never expected this ongoing battle. 3 more years of RV living until we build a Bed and Breakfast so I really really don't want to fight the moisture in the walls every year...there's got to be a better way!!! If I find a solution, I'll be sure to share!

We are living in our RV to save money to build a bed and breakfast. Our RV is parked in my mother in law's back yard.  I finally had time to take pictures of the RV and recorded a video tour of it too! My husband built our beautiful deck and steps out of scrap lumber! Eventually, he wants to build another level leading to the kids outdoor play area and picnic table. I hope you enjoy a peek into our home on wheels.
